Leonard appoints shadow cabinet

Scottish Labour leader Richard Leonard has appointed his Shadow Cabinet.

Since his election, Mr Leonard has held individual meetings with every Labour MSP to discuss how the team at Holyrood could most effectively hold the SNP government to account and set out a distinctive and positive Scottish Labour alternative.

Mr Leonard will encourage his Shadow Cabinet to play a big role not just in the chamber and committee rooms of Holyrood but across the country, taking Labour’s message directly to the people of Scotland.

Scottish Labour leader Richard Leonard said:

“This is a new team and a new start for Scottish Labour. After seven years of Tory austerity and a decade of SNP mediocrity people are ready for the real and radical change the Labour party offers.

This team is a blend of energy, talent and experience, ready to hold this government to account put forward the positive difference a Scottish Labour government would make.”

  1. I hope Richard starts mapping out what Labour wants going forward, his reaction to the budget was disapointing at best. Shouting a lot doesn’t make for good government or opposition. Lets see if he put anything useful forward so Labour can support a budget for a change and can claim they’re getting things done in opposition.

  2. I thought Richard responded to the Budget well and emphasised Labour’s priorities in it. Then what do I know. Only 37 years of activism, as a Councillor, as a Constituency officer, as a campaigner and as a blogger. Read my blog ” Built on Sand” on this channel.

On the Shadow Cabinet, I think Richard has done a great job of bringing all the shades of our Party together in some brilliantly talented front benchers

    1. Jim, you forgot fantasy story writer as witnessed on your ‘built on sand’ article and the many others you have published on labour hame.
