The Sunday Post reports that Justice Secretary Michael Matheson may be considering bringing back proposals to abolish corroboration.

Scottish Labour’s Justice Spokesperson, Graeme Pearson MSP, said:

“The Justice Secretary rightly ditched this proposal just months ago after top members of Scotland’s legal profession spoke out against it.

Experts, the public and opposition parties at Holyrood agreed that this would be a step backwards for Scotland’s criminal justice system. Michael Matheson is desperately trying to be all things to all people.

Michael Matheson need to stick to his decision and not bring this proposal back to Parliament.”
